Zimple Trail

There's a fine line between a groove and a rut.  ("The only difference between a rut and a grave are the dimensions." -- Ellen Glasgow)

I'm really looking to embrace change and explore new (to me) ideas and ways of painting.

In order to keep my trails from turning into ruts, I've been exploring fresh new (to me) ways to say what I want to say.

Here I've taken one of my beloved trails, and painted it using a variation of a Zorn palette of colors. Now it's a Zimple Trail.

A "Zorn palette" refers to a palette of colors thought to be often used by Swedish artist Anders Zorn (1860-1920).  This limited group of just four colors includes: yellow ochre, ivory black, vermilion and titanium white

So here I used only Yellow Ochre (deli mustard yellow), Alizarin Crimson (a cooler red), Ivory Black and Titanium White.

You can find this one at the "Red Between the Lines" show at Framed Image Gallery in Denver, CO through March 2021.

You can leave a comment!  I'd love to hear what you have to say!

This is what the blog world is all about: connections.

I welcome your thoughts, comments, concerns, questions, quips and quotes after each or any of the posts on this blog.

Thank you!!
